Black Tee Golf — Privacy Policy

Who we are: Black Tee Golf, based in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada (“Black Tee Golf”, “we”, “us”, “our”). This Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you visit blktee.golf, apply for membership, or participate in our events and community. It is intended to meet obligations under Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Ontario requirements.

1) Scope

This Policy applies to personal information we collect online (our website, forms, email, or community tools we operate) and offline (our events). It does not apply to information processed by third-party sites or services that we do not control.

2) Information We Collect

  • Identifiers and contact details. Name, email, phone, city/province, company, role, and social/profile links you provide.
  • Membership and application data. Experience, goals, references, golf-related preferences, and other details you share during application or onboarding.
  • Transaction data. Membership or event purchases, renewal dates, payment status. Payment card data is handled by our payment processor and not stored on our servers.
  • Event data. Attendance, pairings, preferences, photos/video captured at events (see “Likeness & media” choices below).
  • Usage and device data. Pages viewed, links clicked, IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and approximate location based on IP.
  • Communications. Emails, messages, feedback, and survey responses.

3) How We Use Information

  • Provide services. Process applications, manage memberships, operate events and community features, and provide support.
  • Personalize experiences. Curate introductions and pairings, recommend events, and tailor content.
  • Payments and billing. Process transactions, refunds, and renewals via our payment processors.
  • Safety and standards. Verify eligibility, enforce our Terms and Member Code of Conduct, and protect the community.
  • Marketing with consent. Send updates, event invites, and newsletters. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • Analytics and improvement. Monitor usage, diagnose issues, and improve our site, events, and offerings.
  • Legal compliance. Meet legal, regulatory, tax, or security obligations and to respond to lawful requests.

4) When We Share Information

  • Service providers. We share information with vendors who help us run the website, process payments, manage email and community tools, host events, or provide analytics and security. They are bound by contractual obligations to protect personal information and use it only for our instructions.
  • Community interactions. With your direction or consent, limited details (e.g., name, role, city) may be visible to other members to facilitate intros and pairings.
  • Legal reasons. We may disclose information to comply with law, court orders, or to protect rights, property, or safety.
  • Business transactions. In the event of a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset sale, information may be transferred as part of the transaction subject to this Policy.
  • No selling of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

5) Cookies & Analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure performance, and understand how visitors use the site.

  • Essential cookies. Required for core functionality such as login and form submissions.
  • Performance/analytics. Help us understand traffic and improve the site (e.g., page views, time on page).

  • Community visibility. You can ask us to limit which profile fields are visible to other members, subject to membership functionality.

7) Your Rights

Subject to limited exceptions under PIPEDA and applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access. Request access to your personal information held by us.
  • Correction. Request corrections if your information is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Withdrawal of consent. Withdraw consent for specific uses (which may affect your ability to use some services).
  • Complaint. File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the applicable provincial authority.

8) Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9) Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, to meet legal or accounting obligations, and to resolve disputes. When no longer needed, information is securely deleted or anonymized.

10) International Transfers

Some service providers may store or process information outside Ontario or Canada. As a result, your information may be subject to the laws of other jurisdictions. We require appropriate protections from our providers and remain responsible for personal information we transfer to them.

11) Children’s Privacy

Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If required by law, we will provide additional notice.
